Mission Vision and Policy

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

Vision

Our Vision is to encourage Weymouth Baptist Church (WBC) members to participate in overseas and UK mission work and support the work of individuals and organisations already involved in mission work.

Our intention is to support a small number of people and projects well rather than spread ourselves too thinly and we believe that in order to encourage mission within the fellowship and also to effectively support those already involved, that those supported should communicate with and visit WBC on a regular basis.

Policy

In line with our Vision, WBC is keen to encourage short term mission workers, including Gap year students, people taking a sabbatical, or retirees. We hope that short term commitment will encourage greater interest in supporting mission, or even a longer term commitment to mission work.

The Mission Prayer Support Group shall meet every two months to learn up-to-date news of the Church’s missionaries and projects, to pray for them, and to keep the fellowship informed, particularly when there are special needs within the missionary family. The group shall also work to ensure that regular contact and visits take place with missionaries that are being supported.
